ESSAY 73
THE "TV EVANGELIST" MYTH
We have been duped to believe that Television Evangel-
ists who openly identify themselves as "TV Evangelists" are
the only religious evangelists on television.
Some prominent TV Evangelists are Norman Lear, Peter
Jennings, Tom Brokaw, and Dan Rather. TV dramas and news
are laden with alien religion.
They preach a METAPHYSICS--usually it is secular in
nature. By simply not mentioning Christianity or Judaism,
atheism is preached. In other words, God is ignored.
From their atheistic presupposition flows their EPISTE-
MOLOGY (philosophy of the nature of knowledge or truth). By
rejecting the scriptures as the Word of God, anything they
conveniently choose becomes "truth" to them.
From their epistemology follows their AXIOLOGY--their
values. Axiology is subdivided into AESTHETICS and ETHICS.
Aesthetics is the study of the nature of beauty or art.
Ethics is the study of what is right and wrong. From the
secular (Atheistic) metaphysics can come remnants of Judeo-
Christian values. However, their degenerate values corrupt
people. For instance, the National Endowment of the Arts
has sponsored legitimate art but also "ugly" and immoral
art. Negative "ethics" have been preached and taught by
example--such as adultery, stealing, lying, murder, abortion
and homosexuality.
The family has been attacked by TV evangelists. Their
liberal legislators have put teeth in the evil attack by
making laws that further destroy the family.
The effect of negative evangelism has been felt in the
area of the judicial. Some judges have penalized people who
have peaceably spoken out against abortion. One judge on
the west coast persecuted the Boy Scouts because the Scouts
did not want male homosexuals over young boys.
Even some churches have been influenced by the evil
rhetoric of these TV evangelists. They ought to know better.
